JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of ISOSCELES With the 2011 Vintage Release

JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, a pioneer in Paso Robles of ultra-premium Bordeaux variety wines, has released the 2011 vintage of its flagship ISOSCELES, marking the wine’s 25th anniversary.  The iconic Bordeaux blend is widely credited as a wine that helped establish Paso Robles as a luxury winemaking region and embodies JUSTIN’s unwavering commitment to quality winemaking. To commemorate this special occasion, JUSTIN will add new ISOSCELES-focused offerings to its guest experience, including retrospective tastings and blending seminars.

ISOSCELES, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot, was inspired by the wines of Chateau Margaux and the style of “Left Bank” Bordeaux wines.  Since its first vintage in 1987, ISOSCELES, then called “JUSTIN Reserve,” has received incredible acclaim. The wine adopted the name ISOSCELES in 1989 and used the isosceles triangle to represent the relationship of the three varietals of the blend.  For the past 25 years, the wine’s quality, complexity and age-worthiness has continuously earned coveted accolades from a number of wine publications and industry experts worldwide.

“Celebrating the 25th release of ISOSCELES is a dream come true,” said Justin Baldwin, founder of JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery.  “The magic of Bordeaux wines seduced me from my first sip over thirty years ago.  In the early 1980s, only a handful of California wineries had dared to make wines attempting to emulate Bordeaux, and I was determined to be numbered in that group.  ISOSCELES represented the epitome of winemaking for me then and continues to embody JUSTIN’s winemaking philosophy today.”

Throughout its 25 year history, significant milestones of ISOSCELES have brought worldwide attention not only to JUSTIN, but also to the entire Paso Robles AVA.  The 1994 vintage of the wine earned JUSTIN the coveted Pichon Lalande trophy for “Best Red Blend” at the world-renowned London International Wine & Spirits Competition.  Under the current direction of winemaker Scott Shirley, ISOSCELES only continues to embody superior winemaking.

“I was drawn to Paso Robles as a winemaker by ISOSCELES,” said Shirley.  “Across all 25 vintages, there is a consistency of quality and style which is a testament not only to the pioneering efforts of JUSTIN for the region, but also to the potential held in these soils for producing compelling wines year after year.  I am inspired professionally, intellectually and emotionally by ISOSCELES.”

Today, thanks in large part to ISOSCELES, JUSTIN continues to be the leading producer of ultra-premium Bordeaux varieties on the Central Coast.  Starting in March, to commemorate the 25th anniversary, JUSTIN will offer ISOSCELES-themed offerings to guests at the recently renovated property.  On the first Saturday of each month through December, the winery will offer a “Deconstructing ISOSCELES” seminar inside the ISOSCELES Library that will feature barrel tastings of the three components of the blend.  In addition, on the third Saturday of each month, a three-vintage ISOSCELES vertical tasting will also be offered inside the ISOSCELES Library.  For pricing, reservations and additional information regarding ISOSCELES anniversary offerings, please visit
